Van Zyl wins by 1 in South Africa

George, South Africa (Sports Network) - Jaco Van Zyl closed with a 2-under 70 on Sunday to win the Dimension Data Pro-Am by a single stroke.

Van Zyl finished his 11th Sunshine Tour title at 17-under-par 272. The final round was played on the par-72 Montagu Golf Course at Fancourt, while the par-72 Outeniqua Golf Course and the par-73 The Links at Fancourt were used in earlier rounds.

The South African had two birdies and a bogey on both nines. He birdied the last to hold off Daniel Brooks, who also birdied the last.

Brooks also closed with a 70 to end one back at minus-16. Dean Burmester (68), Wallie Coetsee (67), Trevor Fisher, Jr. (70) and Hennie Otto (73) shared third at 14-under-par 275.
