INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Western Nevada College’s compelling and provocative multimedia exhibition, “Always Lost: A Meditation on War,” is on display September 13-23 at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, at the Prim Library, as part of SNC’s Writers in the Woods series.

The exhibit features poetry and prose; Pulitzer Prize-winning Iraq War combat photographs by David Leeson and Cheryl Diaz-Meyer (courtesy of The Dallas Morning News); personal profiles of three WNC student-veterans; the poetry and profile of SPC Noah Pierce, who took his own life after serving two tours in Iraq; and the Wall of the Dead, a photographic collage of the more than 6,500 American military personnel who have died in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

The idea for “Always Lost” originated in a creative writing class at WNC, and has been on a national tour since 2010. Called "a national treasure" by many, the exhibit has been invited to Washington, D.C. by members of the U.S. Senate.

Following the installation at SNC, the exhibit travels to Michigan Technological Institute and continues throughout the East and Midwest in 2013.

The Always Lost installation at Sierra Nevada College ties into a free, special event on Friday, Sept. 21, featuring author, journalist and Vietnam War veteran Tim O’Brien. His novel, "The Things They Carried," about his experiences as an infantryman, was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and was the book chosen by SNC as a "Community Read." O’Brien will speak on Friday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. For information call: (775) 831-1314.
