RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees has released an official statement regarding the status of Superintendent Pedro Martinez's employment contract.

The statement, from School Board President Barbara Clark, said:

"I have requested that our staff place an item on the next WCSD board meeting agenda, scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, so the Board can consider and take possible action regarding the future of the Superintendent’s employment contract with the school district. In the meantime, Mr. Martinez remains on leave with pay until further notice."

I hope all of the idiots who complained about the legal firing of Mike Mieras are happy the good old boy system is staying in place. Your corrupt, idiot board is going to have to cough up major, major bucks in breaching Pedro Martinez's contract. It could total in the millions of dollars. I hope he sues the pants off the district. There is NO question what this board did was illegal. None, zip. This isn't about Mieras or Martinez but really about the blatant corruption of a public entity that has been corrupt for many, many years. A person tries to hold administrators accountable, and these morons who call themselves school board members--some of whom have conflicts of interest to begin with--try and find some bogus excuse to throw him out.

The real story is for all you over educated idiots that spent too much money on your education is................keep it simple and stop distorting the facts. I don't care if they are real or made up! Nothing can get accomplished until we get to the basic point of Education and stop paying board members salaries for running to the copy machine to make copies of what they have already copied to justify there damn job!

The real story about all of this is that the school board didn't include all members of the board about this decision and it didn't seem well planned out when this announcement was made. Then if this school board is so great, why didn't they do a better job checking him out before hiring him? Then there's the yearly evaluations that all staff receives. If he wasn't doing a good job, then this is where they tell him and the public. I'm not impressed with any school board members in any of our counties. They are the same OLD members year after year that sit on these boards. There is a procedure that the board has to take and I think they went a little off course. I did see that one school board member went on t.v. and wasn't happy that Martinez let the school police officer go. That wasn't very professional either. I have talked to others about this mess and we think Martinez was going against the grain, and that some school board members didn't like that. The school board better be prepared for a lawsuit.

History is repeating itself...........not one moron can see it coming!

Since when does a Doctorate's Degree qualify for a top position anyway! Does a thesis paper automatically teach someone to lead, hell no. A Sheriff or Chief should be a COP first and a computer nerd second! A Superintendent should be a TEACHER first and a CPA second! How do you expect to fix a problem if these people can't see what's broke at ground level. I'm sure the Chief had contingency plans, just cause they where not logged into a computer doesn't mean they were not effective. Great, now they will hire a computer programmer not a Chief! Top heavy bureaucracy, no wonder Nevada is ranked second to lowest in the Nation. Stop catering to English as a Second language and maybe our States test scores will improve! And it is no secret that the majority of teachers refuse to grade homework on there own time. If Teachers feel they are not paid enough for there work, maybe they should have gone after a more specific Degree! Are the Colleges telling student's they will become rich being a teacher? I think we all know the answer to that one.

Get him gone! He's a lousy leader. Recently he approved a plan to reduce special education staff (for the most vulnerable of students) to save money. Keep in mind that the staff being reduced makes about $9.00 an hour with no benefits. Instead he wants to hire a high paid admin staff member who will do nothing to help the students. All of this opens the district up to huge liability lawsuits when children are injured at school. Maybe if he was a licensed CPA he would understand cost/benefit analysis.
