LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — The commander of an Army base in southern New Mexico is moving on.
Maj. Gen. Gwen Bingham became commander of the White Sands Missile Range in September 2012 and the Army announced Tuesday that she will become commander of the U.S. Army-Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, in Warren, Mich.
The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that she'll be replaced as White Sands' commander by Brig. Gen. Timothy R. Coffin.
He is now deputy commander of the Joint Functional Component Command for Space, at the U.S. Strategic Command, at Vandenberg Air Force Base, in California.
Dates for the generals' new assignments weren't announced.
