RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Harvey Whittemore has filed a motion for a new trial, according to United States District Court documents.
Whittemore's lawyers says the judge failed to remove a biased witness. They also say the jury was given incomplete instructions and statements were made that weren't supported by evidence.
Earlier this month, Whittemore was convicted on three counts of making illegal campaign contributions to Senator Harry Reid in 2007. He faces up to 15 years behind bars at sentencing.
Whittemore was found guilty of exceeding the $4,600 limit on campaign contributions as well as using others as "straw donors" to send nearly $150,000 to Reid.
