MARIPOSA, Calif. (AP) — A wildfire that broke out in Central California has triggered the evacuation of about 100 rural homes.

Daniel Berlant, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said Sunday that the fire in Mariposa County broke out Sunday afternoon and has grown to about 500 acres.

About 100 homes on a rural road were threatened by the blaze.

Berlant said hot, dry conditions were fueling the fire burning near Lake McClure.
