Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Wizards announced that forward Martell Webster will miss approximately three to five months following microdisectomy surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back.
Webster suffered the injury during a workout last week at Washington's practice facility. He had successful surgery on Thursday and will begin his rehab immediately before resuming basketball activities.
This was the third back surgery of Webster's career.
A nine-year pro drafted out of high school in 2005, Webster averaged 9.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last season for the Wizards.
