RENO, Nev. (AP) — A wrong-way driver has been charged with felony DUI in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 395 north of Reno that hospitalized a 44-year-old woman with serious injuries.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says 40-old-year-old Richard Garska of Reno suffered only minor injuries when his pickup slammed into an SUV driven by Lesbia Bojorquez of Reno at about 3 a.m. on Saturday.
The patrol says people had started telephoning 911 to report the pickup with a disoriented driver narrowly missing several other vehicles as he was headed south in the northbound lanes.
Troopers were enroute when the crash occurred near the Red Rock exit.
Garska failed a breath test at the scene. He's being held at the Washoe County Jail without bail on suspicion of felony DUI causing substantial bodily harm.
