Yankees put Phelps on DL

Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Yankees placed pitcher David Phelps on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation, the team announced Monday.

Phelps left Sunday's start in Boston after two brutal innings due to the injury. He gave up five runs on six hits before exiting.

Phelps is 5-5 with a 4.24 ERA in 26 games (17 starts) this season. He began the season in the bullpen, but was forced into the rotation because of injuries.

The Yankees also recalled pitcher Matt Daley from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes- Barre. Daley has a 4.85 ERA over 12 relief outings this season for New York.
