VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) – An attorney for former Storey County Commissioner Bum Hess is answers questions on-camera for the first time about the alleged assault of an 18-year-old which ended an arrest Friday at a high school basketball game.
“The whole thing is about some bad blood because Mister Hess's son played on the same team as a freshman as these guys and they didn't like the face he was getting to play. It’s kinda silly,” attorney Cal Dunlap said.
Dunlap implied the whole thing's being blown out of proportion - calling the felony charges "outlandish" without giving much more information.
“I'm not going to comment on that except that a scuffle doesn't warrant felony charges and we will deal with that latter on,” he said.
Dunlap added he expects something to come to light soon about the alleged victim Kody Burrell's troubled past and Burrell's role in the event. Burrell and his attorney declined to comment at this point.
