RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) – The interim chairman of that new Nevada-California exploratory committee for an 2022 Tahoe Olympic bid, Andy Wirth, says he worked on a previous winning and he knows there's so much that still needs to be swept forward
“Everything from the environmental concerns and issues to transportation, and certainly some of the venue feasibility studies,” he said.
But perhaps the biggest challenge for them right now is the US Olympic Committee's struggling negotiations with the international committee over airtime for American athletes and money. A USOC spokesperson e-mailed news 4 writing - because those talks have not been resolved yet, “We are not currently contemplating a bid for the Olympic or Olympic Winter games.”
“We're certainly aware of those negations, but we choose not to comment on those negations,” Wirth said.
That new exploratory board says they'll hope for the best and press on. Because the only white flag they want to see waiving around here is one with the Olympic rings on it.
