Diesel spill near Donner Lake now contained

Page Last Updated: Thursday May 27, 2010 8:02am PDT
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A diesel fuel spill that threatened Donner Lake after a tanker truck overturned has been contained. Bill Hauck of Truckee Meadows Water Authority says there will be
no impact on water customers and only a small amount of the fuel
actually entered the lake.

The spill occurred Wednesday morning when a tanker truck headed
east over Interstate 80 overturned on the snowy roadway and lost
between 2,600 and 3,000 gallons of diesel.

Hauck says the spill poses no threat to the Truckee River, the main source of water authority's water supply. He says a containment boom and other environmental controls have
been put in place.
