RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Fire officials say at least three other trucks have launched off the end of the same runaway truck ramp that was the site of a fatal crash in Incline Village last week.

The Nevada Highway Patrol still has not released the name of the driver who was trapped in his burning rig after it crashed into a home along the Mount Rose Highway.

The driver lost his brakes and steered into the uphill-slanted gravel ramp but it failed to stop the speeding vehicle.

Chief Mike Brown of the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District says the ramp has stopped runaway vehicles on numerous occasions over the years.

But he says at least three other speeding trucks crashed through it since the 1980s.

Transportation officials are reviewing the matter.

Mark as Offensive

By the lack of current updates from NDOT, it seems like they (NDOT) is hoping that this will be forgotten and just go away. I truly doubt that they REALLY plan to do anything to make this runaway ramp safe other than lip service. Don't let this problem disappear.
