Sen. Ensign calls Democrat’s policies ineffective as Nevada’s jobless claims rise

GOP Sen. John Ensign in a statement issued Monday drew a correlation between Nevada's June 2010 jobless numbers and Washington Democrat's economic policies.

"At the same time that the [Obama] Administration announces its plans to spend this summer touting the benefits of the stimulus bill, new unemployment numbers for Nevada show that our state is continuing to shed jobs," Ensign said. "Currently, Nevada is sitting at a record-breaking 14.2 percent unemployment, a number that truly underlines that the Democrats' policies for job creation are falling flat across our state.

"It's incredibly important that we put the focus back on job creation by incentivizing the private sector to actually create jobs which will not happen if they continue to be burdened by new taxes that stem from a growing debt. The stimulus bill has had little effect on our state but has done wonders to increase the size of government in Washington, D.C."

This is Ensign trying to get back in good graces with his GOP buddies after bringing them a bunch of embarrassment via his personal indiscretions. This release has no substance and is more partisan crap showing us why he needs to be voted out.

I have been a Nevada resident for over 25 years and the talk of diversifying the economy to avoid a disaster such as the unemployment numbers that we are currently facing has always been a focal point of countless agendas. I do not wish to point fingers at any particular political party because both share in the blame. However a share of this shameless blame also goes to the city, county and state politicians and the business community who has sat at the table and had these discussion over and over again and nothing has ever been done. You reap what you sow.
