PPP poll: Reid slightly ahead in Nevada Senate race

Page Last Updated: Tuesday July 20, 2010 6:37pm PDT
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.
Democratic Sen. Harry Reid is ahead of his GOP opponent Sharron Angle in Nevada's Senate race, according to a Public Policy Polling phone survey conducted this month.

Reid is slightly ahead of Angle; 48 percent to 46 percent, with 6 percent of voters undecided, according to pollsters.

Reid is more popular than Angle: 44 percent of Nevada voters approve of Reid's work in the Capitol, while only 36 percent of voters have a favorable opinion of Angle, pollsters said.

Reid is more popular with Democrats than Angle is with Republicans: 80 percent of Democrats
support Reid, in comparison to the 63 percent of Republicans that support Angle, according to PPP.

Angle's embrace of Tea Party ideals may be working against the candidate, because a fifth of
Republicans have an unfavorable opinion of her, according to PPP. Nineteen percent think she is too conservative and 23 percent think she is an extremist. These voters' opposition to Angle's alignment with the Tea Party isn't overcome by a desire to beat Reid, pollsters said.

Only 23 percent of voters who have an unfavorable opinion of the Republican choose Angle over Reid.

"This could be mixed news. Angle's alignment with the Tea Party may be harmful if all
registered voters voted," said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. "However the
Tea Party is more energized and excited about voting than anyone else, they are more likely to
show up to the polls. In an election this close her alliance with the Tea Party could be the reason
she wins."

PPP surveyed 630 Nevada voters from July 16-18, and the survey's margin of error is plus or minus 3.9 percent. Click here to read more.

The poles have moved since Reid diverted from the issues by posting Amgle's "old"web site.
Has any body actually read it???
Here is her statement copied from Reid's link:
"Social Security and its attendant Medicare are broken and bankrupt systems because we, as voting citizens, have allowed congress to transform these systems from insurance programs to and entitlement programs. The government must continue to keep its contract with seniors, who entered into the system on good faith
...Young workers must be encouraged to investigate personal retirement account options."
Sharon goes on to explain a health care system like the one congress gives itself and You are not forced into anything!!!
Interesting that she is proposing that the GOVERNMENT's retirement pension program actually be extended to EVERYONE! Just like a 401k you keep it ALL.

The liberal LIES and SPIN on this topic are the ways of diverting the voters from what is actually best for the people and the country!!!!

Stephen - You and Sharron both sound like Libertarians. Thats the grind here that's pushing polls the other way. Is it too late to push a Republican write-in that acts like one? If she keeps hiding from the press, the undecided will call this one.
