Nic Dunn MyNews4.com (Sparks, NV) - The Sparks Police Department is launching a new campaign to increase enforcement of traffic laws, reports a Sparks Police Department press release. Sparks Police will be working with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the Reno Police Department to assign extra officers to the streets through August 8, 2010. They will be specifically looking for pedestrian violations, vehicles failing to yield to pedestrians, and speeding vehicles. The extra officers are being funded by a grant awarded to each agency by the Department of Public Safety/Office of Traffic Safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published studies showing that motor vehicle crashed are the leading cause of death among young children, and 20% of these fatalities among children between the ages of five to nine are child pedestrians. Studies also show that the speed of the vehicle has a direct correlation with the likelihood and severity of injuries.
Police also caution drivers that with warmer weather, and children being out of school, there are more pedestrians. Sparks Police want to remind everyone to be responsible and safely share the road. Pedestrians should use crosswalks, and vehicles must yield to pedestrians.

This is great. I think every city and town in America should reinforce traffic laws. There are way too many Americans dying from tragic accidents and DUI. I also think that there should be universal laws for wearing seat belts. I know for a fact there are some important US cities that do not make it mandatory, therefore officers do not pull people over for not wearing one. If you get pulled over for running a light and don't have the seat belt on, then yes you get a ticket. But I think it should be mandatory and reinforced. http://www.primerealadstate.com/
