Reno-area wakes up to cold, snow dusting
Page Last Updated: Wednesday October 28, 2009 8:07am PDT
Forecasters say the temperatures feel colder because of a wind chill in the low 20s.
Cold air aloft and upslope northerly flow resulted in scattered snow showers early Wednesday morning over portions of far western Nevada and eastern California, according to the National Weather Service.
The highest concentrations of snow showers were from near Gardnerville southward into Mono and Western Mineral counties, including along Highway 395.
Any heavy snow showers could put down a light accumulation of snow, enough to make roadways slick.
A few inches of snow are possible in parts of Mono County. Travelers are reminded to slow down if encountering heavy snow showers, and to allow some extra time to reach their destination during the morning drive.
Winds will gust to between 25 and 30 mph out of the north, making for a chilly morning. Be aware that melt from earlier snow showers may have refrozen on some roads and parking lots, resulting in slick spots.
