An early morning fight between two 18-year-old men led to a shooting that left one hospitalized and one in jail Tuesday morning, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened at the alleged suspect's house near the intersection of Sandpiper Drive and Fantail Street, at about 1:15 a.m., according to Deputy Brooke Keast. A group of young adults were gathered at the suspect's home when a fight broke out between the two men at about 1 a.m., Keast said.

The victim left the house and walked along the street, knocking on doors and looking for help from neighbors, and one of them called 911, Keast said. Authorities transported him to a Reno hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The SWAT team was assembled when the suspected shooter--Travis Charles Hartzie, 18, locked himself inside his house and would not cooperate with law enforcement. Hartzie later surrendered at about 7 a.m. and was arrested for attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and shooting into an occupied dwelling, Keast said. His bail is set at $80,635 and he is being held in the Washoe County Jail, Keast said. SWAT remained on scene for investigative work, Keast said.

Nancy Gomes Elementary-a nearby school--was on Code Yellow lock down as a precautionary measure, according to Washoe County District School Spokesman Steve Mulvenon. Washoe County School District Police Officers were on scene, but the school was on a normal schedule with no cancellations and no delays, Mulvenon said.
