The fire raged through the structure at about 11 p.m. at the River School on White Fir Street, which is near Mayberry Drive and 4th Street.
When firefighters arrived, the green house was completely engulfed in flames. Officials say gas canisters and propane tanks inside the building caused some small explosions.
Fire crews expressed relief that they were able to keep the fire contained, and that no one was hurt.
"The fire crews were able to knock the fire down quickly enough to protect the adjacent exposures and other structures," said Reno Fire Battalion Chief Dana Tucker.
Tucker said he has no reason to believe the fire was set intentionally, and they continue to investigate the cause.
The River School is an event center that focuses on teaching a holistic approach to sustainable living.
