RSCVA adopts new marketing plan

The Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority is embarking on a new effort to lure visitors to the area, by promising them something "Far from expected."
The new advertising tag line was unanimously approved by the RSCVA's board of directors Thursday.
The phrase "Reno-Tahoe USA...Far From Expected" will be part of a $2 million advertising campaign aimed at people who have never visited the area, or haven't in the past several years.
RSCVA CEO Ellen Oppenheim says the old slogan "America's Adventure Place" was scrapped because research showed it didn't appeal to peoples' emotions. She told News 4 the idea is to sell the Reno-Tahoe area as refreshing and offbeat.
The RSCVA must now convince local casinos to help fund its $2 million advertising campaign, which will feature the new tag line.
